Information for new members

We would like to welcome you to the Leamington Sinfonia and hope that this information will help you to settle in quickly.

The orchestra meets in term time from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at Spencer Yard.

After rehearsals we meet at the Cricketers’ Arms. You are very welcome to come along.

The subscription is free for the first half term. For the second half term and all subsequent terms we ask for a contribution towards orchestra funds, payable into the orchestra's bank account. Details will be given to you following the first half term.

Subscriptions are due in September, January and April. We ask that members gift aid their subscription.

The orchestra plays 3 - 4 concerts each year together with some additional fund raising concerts.

The Musical Director of the orchestra is Thomas Payne and the leader is Edward Boothroyd.

The orchestra is run by a small committee which works hard to ensure that rehearsals and events run smoothly.

We urge members to take good care of the scores issued as these are frequently difficult to obtain.

It would be helpful if members could arrive 10 minutes early to arrange the seating for the orchestra, and also help clear away at the end of rehearsals.

Members will be asked to join a rota to help serve tea and coffee at the interval midway through rehearsals.

The orchestra runs a ‘100 club’ in which members and their families and friends can adopt a number for £12 per annum. Three prizes are won each month. This provides additional income for the orchestra.

Finally, please feel free to ask any members of the orchestra if there is something of which you are unsure.
